BRAZILIAN HEART / SEPTEMBER 2009

BRAZILIAN HEART
SEPTEMBER 2009
SINCE 1998

I was having a conversation with my friend Dilma Barros from Cabo Verde about how we grew up distrusting policemen in our countries. The chat started when we met two nice American policemen at the Levitt Pavilion in downtown Los Angeles before my performance. During the show the musicians noticed how one policeman gently pulled a drunk guy from the dance floor (where kids were having fun) and brought him aside. When the policemen left we congratulated them. As they were leaving on their “earthy conscious politically correct” bikes, one of them told me he had given my phone number to the drunk guy. FOR YOU
I don’t hope my writing will alter anything… In the end, we don’t want to alter things, we want to bloom one way or another.
