SINCE 1998

I'll be singing with THE TONIGHT SHOW BAND on Thursday, October 14, 2010!
: )
One of my great pleasures in life is to gather fresh branches of
rosemary (Alecrim in Portuguese) from my garden, sniff, and add it to
a chicken stew. I just learned that Rosmarinus officinallis is “rose
of the sea” in Latin, and that it helps to restore blood circulation
and invigorate your digestion. In Brasil, they use it to treat asthma
and rheumatism, among other things. Ok, your caboclo friend here is
going back to the kitchen!
P.S.: Caboclo is a Brazilian of Indian or mixed Indian and white ancestry.

BRAZILIAN PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION
The Wall Street Journal printed an article about Dilma Roussef (Labor
Party candidate for the presidency) entitled “Ex-Guerrilla on Cusp of
Power in Brazil.” We’ll be voting again on Oct. 31st to decide between
Dilma and José Serra. What a scary Halloween celebration!

“The Bad Girl” by Peruvian author Mario Vargas Llosa.
FOR YOU
“I do want to loose myself in the endless expanse, and in the open
fields, recognize yet another grain of myself, and harvest in return
the love I deserve. I do want to enter the burning cities, like a son,
like a clown, like a sultan. In the paths I trail, than, each one
shall be my brother.”
(A quote from “Zingareio,” a song by Pedro Moraes)
Zingareio comes from zíngaro that means gypsy. Here’s Chet Baker
playing Zingaro (Retrato em Preto e Branco) by Antonio Carlos Jobim
